Mission
We wish to revive the oldschool 1770-1792 style Militias.
Being one accomplishes that.
Each of our Directorates fulfill their respective specialized missions.
(Not all Directorates Included)
Structure
Unlike many Militias from the Militia movement, Liberty336 has a unique structure.
Liberty336 is broken into 2 sides:
a Citizen side, and an Organized side.
The Citizen side is a single pool of members. Citizens have no rank and cannot be ordered to activities nor give orders. However, they still must abide by the rules/standards of Liberty336, including meeting once a month. They are free to leave whenever they wish.
The Citizen side is intended for members who wish to contribute to the group and engage in activities, but don't want to have the "on call" commitments of the Organized side.
The organized side is broken into separate and independent Directorates. Each with their own specialized mission.
Directorate of Operations
The Directorate of Operations for Liberty336 handles intelligence as well as engages in covert/clandestine operations. This includes both physical and cyber ops.
Unlike the Centralized Intelligence Agency, Liberty336's Directorate of Operations does not have Government Sanctioned authority. This applies both to the NC State and US Federal Government, we are not affiliated nor sanctioned.
You can not apply for this Directorate, you have to be invited.
Desire to be an "honorable outlaw?"
Go by "right and wrong" instead of "legal and illegal"?
Have a Criminal record of "vigilantism"?
Willing to go to foreign countries to work with militant groups? (Like fighting with the SDF?)
Interested in hacking?
Our Directorate of Operations wants YOU!
Directorate of Service & Rescue
The Directorate of Service & Rescue (DSR) is Liberty336’s newest initiative, established in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Recognizing the need for a more structured response to community needs and natural disasters, we created the DSR to enhance our efforts. While Liberty336 has always valued community service, the DSR makes this commitment more focused, trained and organized. It operates in two key areas: Service and Rescue.
The "Service" side focuses on everyday community support, such as picking up litter, volunteering with organizations like the American Red Cross, or aiding in disaster cleanup efforts. Volunteers here do not require gear, skills or certifications, yet they play a vital role in our community.
The "Rescue" side, currently under development, aims to form dedicated Search & Rescue Teams to assist after natural disasters. This ambitious effort requires specialized equipment, training, and certifications, so we’re building it step by step. We ask for your patience as we work toward this goal.
Though not yet fully refined, the Directorate of Service & Rescue holds tremendous potential to serve and save lives in the future. We’re excited to see it grow with the support of our volunteers and community.
The Directorate of Service & Rescue is open to the public for applying as a candidate. If candidates decide to be more serious they can apply to be full blown members of Liberty336.
List of certifications for Rescue side of DSR
- CPR and First Aid Certification - A basic requirement for most SAR teams, ensuring volunteers can provide immediate medical assistance. Offered by organizations like the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
Sign up at American Red Cross - NASAR Wilderness Responder / Operational - NASAR FUNSAR (Fundamentals of Search and Rescue) - Provided by the National Association for Search and Rescue (NASAR), there are 4 levels of certification recognized in SAR. They are Awareness, Operational, Technician, Supervision. The Wilderness Responder is the mid-level operational certification. It prepares you for assisting in wilderness searches. It does not prepare you to do things like hanging off ropes, or rappelling from helicopters.
Find a class at NASAR - NASAR FUNSAR Wilderness First Aid - Basic Wilderness First Aid (BWFA) is a. practical 8-hour course that explains wilderness hazards and trains you to treat injuries and other emergencies in the wilderness.
Wilderness First Aid (WFA) is a 16-hour course designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively respond to medical emergencies and injuries in remote and outdoor settings. Students will learn how to assess, treat, and manage common injuries and illnesses that may occur in wilderness environments, where access to medical help is limited or delayed. This course emphasizes hands-on training, scenario-based learning, and practical application of first aid principles in challenging outdoor conditions.
Find a course at NASAR - NASAR SARTECH III or II - SARTECH III is a beginner certification for field team members, while SARTECH II is more advanced, testing skills in navigation, survival, and search operations. Many NC SAR teams encourage or require these.
Learn more and register at NASAR - NC Fire and Rescue Commission Technical Rescuer Certification (NFPA 1006) - This includes specialties like Rope Rescue, Confined Space, Trench Rescue, or Wilderness Rescue. It’s a professional-level cert for technical SAR roles.
Explore options at NC OSFM - Swiftwater Rescue Technician (SRT) - Essential for water-based rescues after floods or hurricanes (common in NC). Rescue 3 International offers SRT-1 (basic) and SRT-Advanced, though some NC providers align with NFPA standards instead.
Find a training provider - HAZMAT Operations Certification - Required for handling hazardous materials during disaster responses, often part of NC’s Technical Rescuer or Urban SAR training.
Find courses at NC Office of State Fire Marshal - Land Navigation and GPS Training - Not always a formal certification, but proficiency with maps, compasses, and GPS is critical for wilderness SAR. Some teams offer this internally or through NASAR courses.
Check NASAR courses for navigation training - NC OSFM Rescue Officer Certification - A state-specific credential for rescue leadership roles, covering operational and technical skills. Useful for candidates aiming to lead DSR teams.
Learn more at NC OSFM - FEMA Incident Command System (ICS) Courses (ICS-100, ICS-200) - Free online courses from FEMA that teach the standardized approach to incident management, often expected for state-coordinated SAR deployments in NC.
